Not quite the same?
The hair on my right side (and the back) always gets curlier/wavier than on my left. I used to think it was because I had a side part and the right side had more hair and was less damaged, meaning healthier and curlier. After a year with a middle part and no change in the new growth, I started looking for some info and it’s very common that hair isn’t “symmetrical.” Different texture/curl patterns can be due to styling, sun bleaching, wear and tear, but in many cases, it’s simply because that’s how your hair is. How you sleep can affect your curls. If you sleep more on one side than the other with your hair down, it could get flatter there due to wear/pressure. But I sleep with my hair in a bun on my head and more to the right or on my back, so that option is out for me. I have a slightly thinner curling iron that I can use to make some “support curls” on the left side. What you can keep in mind then is not to make the same curls or curl in the same direction all the time if you want it to blend with the rest of your hair. However, I haven’t done support curls in the clip and honestly, I do it very rarely. I think I’m the one who thinks about it the most, and to others, it looks curlier all over. Spring with Essence and the gang
I love doing my makeup when I've got a bit of color! Today I used Nyx glue face primer, Isadora CC cream and brow pencil, W7 tandrops, a bit of Male up store wonder powder for some glow (I use it quite often as a highlighter since it's super glowy), blush from The balm and Essence I tried the two matte shadows from Essence and I just say WOW. Such good shadows for such a good price (30 SEK each) is almost ridiculous. They are at least as good as the shadows in their nude palette and the brown is the perfect shade to have in the crease to build subtle depth! Decubal on the lips and the tubing mascara from Essence. Yesterday's party
Before I got a hangover, I had of course spruced myself up a bit, and it was time to test how the red-red works with my wavy hair texture. The answer is (according to me😝): absolutely excellent 🍒 I sprayed heat protection from Neqi, scrunched in mousse and gel from Umberto Giannini, hair oil from Kerastase, and finished with the texture spray from R+Co. I’m also linking the makeup I used. Pretty standard. The palette from Moira was included, and the burgundy shadows were meant to sync with the hair color 😋 I COULDN’T resist buying my first Sol de Janeiro scent yesterday either. No. 87. Rosé Gold Hair
Or maybe rosé silver 😌 because the shade is quite cool. But pink shade anyway. I have continued to mix a little differently depending on where in the hair it should be applied. The underhair is quite dark blonde, so there I have more of the pink. In the overhair, I have more of beige blonde, and closest to the face, I have even more mixing. This time I tried to mix it with shampoo because I’ve heard it can be easier to distribute evenly that way. Yes, it was actually a bit easier to distribute (even though it feels wrong to mix shampoo and treatment 😅) I added a little bit of cacao intense this time so it wouldn’t become too red-pink. Cacao intense is very cool, so it gives that effect. I’m satisfied! Maybe it became a little too little pink in the front, but I enjoy being able to vary how much pink I want/don’t want to show, and it’s still more pink than if I hadn’t put anything in. ✨ Still fresh hair after three days?
A lot of products (especially for curls) usually mean a feeling of hair being heavy and prepped. Here I am on day three after washing and today I brushed out the curls so they’ve separated. Even though I had curl cream, tons of mousse, and lots of gel when my hair was freshly washed (and even a bit more mousse yesterday), my hair looks so fresh and shiny today. Does it feel greasy? Not at all!🥰 This is the kind of thing that makes a big difference for me in evaluating hair products. Many products can make hair nice for a day/evening… but then what? I want to get more value for my money than having to wash out all the products “the next day” because my hair feels dirty or being forced to put my hair up strictly because it looks greasy. I want to choose for myself when to wash my hair! 🥰 So what have I used now then? The most expensive brand with the heaviest and most luxurious packaging? Improvised Quick Styling
I air-dried my hair last time I washed it, so today my hair was like "half-shaved with sporadic fall", meaning neither good straight hair nor good curly hair. I didn’t feel like getting my hair completely wet, but still wanted to do something, so I sprayed my hair damp with water, but not as wet as one "should" if you want the best curls. If you want thicker curls, meaning to counteract frizz and thin curls that separate into even smaller, you should spray/dampen the hair to "dripping"/soaking wet to form "clumps" (there's no good word in English, but clumps means thicker collections of hair in each "curl" type) to scrunch the product into. So I basically did the opposite of what one "should"... but I thought it would be fluffier than defined, and that’s better than before at least 😜 I scrunched in #happycrazymine lock-gel (I see it more as a cream though), gel from #umbertogiannini and mousse from #tigi (not a product combo I normally use and reverse order of gel and mousse 😅) I dried a bit sporadically with the diffuser (the funnel) on the blow dryer, and when all the skinny curls were dry, I scrunched out the hard/stiff from the curls with the oil from #kerastase. I’ve seen better, I’ve seen worse ☺️ If someone else looks, they probably won’t notice a bigger difference than usual. I see that the curls are more/thinner and will probably notice the difference in durability the most, I think, but that’s negligible. Now I’m sitting in the city enjoying the late summer sun with a coffee, and my hair still looks totally okay. Linking the makeup too! Day 3 hair and old favorite
If you remember/know how much mousse and gel I use when I style my hair curly/wavy, it’s actually pretty cool that my hair can feel this fresh on day 3, and I’ve also brushed it out today. I just lightly sprayed a bit of water over my hair since I didn’t want such defined curls today. Done! ☺️ Clarins beauty flash balm was the only thing you heard about as a primer before the "primer boom" a few years ago. Is it still selling well? It feels like it’s fallen off social media and TikToks at least. I didn’t appreciate it much ten years ago, but now I think it makes my skin feel a bit more plump when I pat it in. I guess it’s because with age, my skin actually needs a little extra of everything now; before there wasn’t much to "liven up". It doesn’t help the longevity of the makeup otherwise, but it gives a nice base to "paint" on. Freshen up the curls day two
Yesterday I posted my entire styling routine and I think you can join in on today's refresh of what we did yesterday! 🤩 The post from yesterday is among my “looks” on my profile here on Lyko social if you're curious. Besides the products used today, I also had heat protection and a little spray yesterday. Sometimes I freshen up the curls with just mousse and sometimes it becomes a whole procedure with lots of water, mousse, gelée, etc., it depends on what condition the hair is in and what I used before. That's why I want stiff curls. First 😊
For me with a slightly weaker curl pattern (2 a-c) it's gold when the mousse and gel give a stiff surface to the curls as they dry! Why then? Well, it's not because I want them to stay hard, but because when I scrunch out the hard, the curls will hold their pattern better since they previously set in this pattern 🤩 In the video, I show how I do it when I scrunch out the hard from the curls along with a bit of hair oil. "The wet look" disappears, the hair gets more volume, and the curls become bigger and softer. Summer Smokey Eye
After a summer of “light and fresh” makeup, I felt like doing my makeup properly yesterday and went all out with a smokey eye.
