Tested the French new Lumi Bronze for about a week in my makeup routine, with and without setting spray. COLOR: “Toasted Sunlight” looks warm and bronzy on my light neutral skin. Not orange, but leaning golden. “Sunset Doré” seems to be more neutral, and I probably would have preferred that one 🤎 USAGE: Well pigmented, but easy to blend out. I prefer to apply on the back of my hand and pick up a bit with a makeup brush for liquid products. 🌞 The texture is soft, thin, and glides easily – not thick/heavy/sticky at all like some waxy makeup sticks can feel. Dries to a slightly powdery finish with subtle glow when light hits the skin (not glittery). ✨ SCENT: Reminds me of bubblegum and is, in my opinion, totally fine – a bit sweet rather than sharp or pungent. 🍬 Stayed well all day, no need to reapply. Minus for containing paraffin, which I personally want to avoid for environmental reasons. LOOK: The packaging gets 10/10, feels exclusive! The color “Brun Leather” is unique and surprising. Not only is it a nice chocolate brown, it also has small shimmer particles of reddish brown/copper that show a bit when the light hits the lashes 👁️🍫✨ I have somewhat shorter and straight lashes without a lash curler. Therefore, I have used a lash curler. USAGE: The brush is medium-sized and flexible. The bristles are quite close together. The formula is creamy thick, but absolutely not dry (tested daily for about 1 week). I get more volume and fullness to the lashes than length. Separates okay when zigzagging. I don’t experience clumps, but it’s a bit harder to get the right amount on the very smallest lashes. DURABILITY: Very good durability, lasts all day! Zero flakes. I get oily around the eyes easily, but experience very little smudging with this. Also washes off easily with warm water 🚿 A very good mascara that I will probably buy! Magic in a tube? Unfortunately not for me 💯. I love this type of tube with a narrow tip – easy and nice to apply. What stands out about the product for me is the green color, which melts on the skin and is supposed to transform into "your own skin tone" 🧟♀️🪄. However, I was disappointed by this step! I am very pale and neutral – no matter how much I work the product in, the shade still ends up a bit too dark/orange and not quite my own skin tone. 😩 If you are as pale as I am, my tip is to test it in-store before buying! But if you have a bit of color in your skin tone, it probably suits you better 💛 SCENT: Sharp and somewhat generic perfume scent (would have preferred unscented). The texture is thin and smooth, easy to work with and not greasy. Dries quickly to a powdery soft-focus finish. Redness is toned down, but it doesn’t cover my purple/brown acne scars as well. Since the shade is too dark/orange for me, I need my usual CC Cream on top – making this an unnecessary step. First of all, how stylish the design is 🤩🩶 A solid tube that fits the name 💪✨. I have somewhat shorter and straight lashes without an eyelash curler. Therefore, I have used an eyelash curler. USAGE: The brush is large and flexible. The bristles are spaced a bit apart. Easy to apply color and build up. Separates well. But a bit too much. My lashes look fewer but thicker. Easy to build volume, lift, and length. But after a few layers, it clumps at the tips of the lashes. DURABILITY: I find that the lashes stay put during the day, maybe lose a bit of shape. Hardly any smudging. However, I do need powder around the eyes for best durability – with more dewy oil-based makeup or makeup-free days, it can smudge a bit. WATERPROOF? 🤔 The mascara behaves a bit like a 38°C-degree/tubing mascara: I can actually remove it with warm water on a pad and dab a few times, it then comes off in small crumbs. 8 Enchanted Mauve looks cool-neutral rosy pink on my fair skin 💗. Very pigmented but easy to apply evenly and blend out on the cheeks. Best application when I put the product on the back of my hand and pick it up from there with a firmer brush (like for liquid products), then dab it onto the cheeks. Really nice. Matte finish. A bit nostalgic too, the mousse reminds me of mousse foundation I used before. Creamy and fluffy soft ☁️. Stays well with powder and setting spray, but has melted away a bit patchy after 5 hours. Scent: No perfume but smells lightly like the pigments I use for art (not strong or disturbing, I don’t notice the scent on the skin). 🎨 Lips / eyes: Didn’t like this on the lips. Feels more like a light tint (not fully covering), drier finish and it settles a bit unevenly there / pigment sticks to dry flakes. Wear: after 2.5 hours + food and drink, lips still have a slight pink tone, but as eyeshadow almost gone and has settled into creases. Maybelline BB Cream SPF50 x Smartson
Tested for a few weeks in different ways. Shade 30 looks more yellow at first, but fits okay for my neutral light facial skin, maybe a shade darker 🌞. Skin type: combination and surface dry that can get a bit shinier towards the end of the day. Usually use separate SPF and CC Cream from Lumene which I like. This BB Cream feels like a moisturizing hybrid of skincare, SPF, and foundation. Rich texture, easy to blend, but doesn’t fully cover my pimples. The finish is nicely dewy but feels sticky – doesn’t fully dry. With a lot of powder it easily gets cakey in some areas, without powder the coverage melts away after a few hours, so it’s a balancing act. Scent: Don’t see perfume in the ingredient list, but I still experience a stronger scent (unfortunately in a stinging way). There’s also something in the product that irritates my eyes/nose if I have it close, so both run... Nice finish, but hard to use as SPF for me over the whole face (can’t have it near eyes/nose). 002 Maybe It’s… is a neutral-warm rusty brownish red on my neutral skin tone (a bit more red than pencil 05 On It). Pink-brown in some lights. I usually like slightly cooler lips – but this one is nice anyway and will probably suit many ♥️🤎 Soft, easy-to-apply formula with a matte finish, but not as moisturizing as I expected. Creamy and opaque at first, but dries down within about an hour and highlights some dry flakes. Scent: Vanilla caramel fudge (a bit annoying scent in my opinion) but disappears quickly. Durability: Okay. After about an hour (walk + water) mostly tint remains. Needs to be reapplied several times during the day to maintain creaminess. Maybe a bit too warm for my taste, but I will still continue to use it since you can never have too many lip products to vary between 🤎💋. Easy-to-use pencil that was simple to get even with a slightly thicker tip, a lot of product applies at once. Quite creamy, and a matte finish. Scent: No strong noticeable scent (a plus in my opinion!) After about 5 hours of wear-testing where I both ate food and drank quite a bit of water, unfortunately a lot has disappeared. So not very long-lasting in my opinion. As an aspiring makeup stylist, I've started to take a closer look at what my favorite products actually contain. I've loved this shampoo for its scent and shine, but now I understand why my brown color (which has bleached hair underneath) fades so quickly. Analysis: The main ingredient is Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). As we learn in training, sulfates are effective at dissolving oils and dirt, but they also open up the hair strand's cuticle. For porous, colored hair, this means the color pigments literally get washed out from the inside. Are sulfates always bad? No, absolutely not! They are great as a 'Clarifying Shampoo' when you need a thorough cleaning of styling residues or have a very oily scalp. But as a daily shampoo to 'preserve color' (as the name Color Vive suggests), it works less well. The shine you experience mainly comes from silicones (Dimethicone) that form a coating on the outside, which 'masks' the fact that the pigments are actually disappearing. Pros: Gives incredible shine and scent. Good pH balance with citric acid (but the sulfate dominates here). Affordable for uncolored hair. Cons: - Too harsh for bleached/colored lengths. - Makes cool/brown tones dull quickly. My tip: Have you spent money on a nice salon color? Invest in a sulfate-free line or a professional shampoo like Metal DX or Vitamino Color instead. I had really high expectations for this product. The whole idea of a “biotech blowout” sounded like exactly what my hair needed. I bought and tested this new bronzer from Catrice and I really like the formula, very easy to blend and it blends nicely, no streaky areas, just easy and even which I love ❤️ The downside is that this shade turns out very cool and almost gray on me, and it works better for sun contouring, which I will use it for.
